What we do
HealthBridge works globally to improve health and health equity through research, policy and evidence‐based action.
We focus on the following key areas:
- Livable Cities
- Tobacco Control & NCD Prevention
- Gender Equality and Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn & Child Health, and
- Health, Nutrition & Food Security.
Our approach is to work with and strengthen the ability of local partners to carry out the work, which increases the sustainability of our programs. We work with partners to assess the situation and identify locally appropriate solutions that address key gaps.
For example, our work addresses one of the root causes of health and gender inequalities: the undervaluing of women. HealthBridge is one of the few NGOs to positively engage men in women’s reproductive health, providing positive images of masculinity rather than portraying men as the problem.
We also undertake programs outside of the mainstream, for example Livable Cities, and address them in a way that historically few organizations have, by focusing on the link between tobacco and poverty, for instance.
