Projects: Gender Equality, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn & Child Health
Nepal and Vietnam have poorer access to health care, and higher rates of maternal and child mortality than most countries. And in some regions of the two countries the infant mortality rate is twice that of the national average. HealthBridge will work collaboratively with local governments in Nepal and Vietnam to strengthen existing health systems and improve nutrition.
We are looking at how poverty, gender and living in rural areas contribute to delays in access to, and the quality of, maternal and child healthcare. Interventions to address these barriers will also be identified.
The project is developing and pilot testing a mobile health (mHealth) application to engage and educate men on maternal health care, with the overall aim of increasing women’s utilization of essential maternal health care services.
