This year, HealthBridge has celebrated 30 years of working in Vietnam! A celebration of this major milestone was held in Hanoi this fall and attended by up to 60 guests including government and NGO partners and donors. Notably, HealthBridge Vietnam’s ex Country Director of 14 years, Ms. Pham Thi Hoang Anh, also joined the celebration. Dr. Behnoush Ahranjani, M&E Specialist at HealthBridge, gave a short speech on behalf of HealthBridge’s Executive Director, to thank all partners and donors who have been accompanying and supporting us for 30 years and expressed a wish to continue working together in the future. All guests were invited to write their wishes to HealthBridge in the “wishing corner”.
Representatives from the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam and our partner SEATCA were both invited to give speeches. They acknowledged HealthBridge’s important contributions in the areas of Maternal and Child Health, and Tobacco Control respectively and committed to continue working closely with us in the future. Bangon Ritthiphakdee, an advisor and founder at SEATCA expressed:
“I have to admire that the HBV team has high expertise on research, communication, coordination and advocacy. HBV is strategic partner, working both behind the scenes and in the forefront to support government agencies to strengthen public health policy including tobacco control law.”
Mr. Phan Anh Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) – of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gave an award to recognize HealthBridge Vietnam’s contributions in the last 30 years of working in Vietnam. He emphasized some key achievements that HealthBridge has recently accomplished, namely the technical contribution to the development of the tobacco control law and the new national guidance for comprehensive sexual education for adolescents. He also emphasized that HealthBridge has positively and meaningfully contributed to the 50-year relationship between the government of Canada and Vietnam. This is a big award that only few NGOs could receive from the VUFO.
