Please help us to help farm families in Bolivia
By Sian FitzGerald, HealthBridge Executive Director
As 2015 comes to an end we are short about $45,000 for our Small Animals Big Changes project. However, thanks to the generosity of one of our Board members, we can make up that shortfall extra fast.
Our board member has offered to match every dollar raised with 2 more dollars, to a maximum $30,000.
Please donate now to take advantage of this incredibly generous gesture.
Since 2012 our Small Animals Big Changes project has been working with farm families in the Bolivian Andes to get better yields from their sheep and chickens. This is important because, if successful, it will provide the families with more nutritious, animal source food. Traditionally, their diet has relied on tubers and grains, which often lack dietary fat and various vitamins and minerals.
According to recent results, the project is working!
• People in about 400 households are consuming more protein-rich eggs (30 grams per person per day, versus 5g when we started)
• Members of about 100 farming families are eating more meat (220g per person per day, versus 90 g when we started).
We want to keep the momentum going. We need at least $75,000 to continue with the 23 communities for another year to firmly entrench the positive developments described above in families’ lives.
Please donate now. No amount is too small.
You can donate on our website or by calling 613-241-3927, ext. 314.
Thank you and happy holidays!
Sian.
