Details

Debra Efroymson, Senior Advisor and Regional Director in Bangladesh gave a TEDTalk on her vision of car-free cities. In her TEDTalk, Debra walks the audience through the benefits of car-free cities, the ways in which car-free cities can be made possible, and the barriers which stand in the way. In particular, the "three-headed monster" or the car, fuel and road building corporations whom influence us through advertising and hold power over our governments and thus impact how we design and build our cities. Debra raises other issues including car ownership debt, traffic accidents and air pollution, and shares examples from around the world to address these challenges from car-free days in Bogota, Colombia to tearing down highways in Seoul, South Korea to restore nature.
