Helping Hoi An create, and expand, its parks

The HealthBridge Vietnam team helped the coastal city of Hoi An develop a Parks Master Plan that includes development of 79 new parks by 2020.

In the last six months of 2015, the city developed two mini parks for 2 neighbourhoods of 1,600 people. The local government and communities built 3 new mixed-use Community Houses and renovated 10 existing ones by equipping them with seats and playgrounds. This will serve more than 5,000 adults and children.

Hoi An  will also implement a pilot project to install 3 sets of sports equipment so the more than 8,000 people of Minh An ward can exercise. During the 5-year plan, the city is expected to develop 79 new public spaces and increase the area of public space per dweller to 9.2 square meters, which meets the Vietnamese standard and WHO recommendation for green spaces.
