Project
Description
In Vietnam, poor nutrition is more common in poor rural households and more problematic among minorities living in hard-to-reach areas. HealthBridge Vietnam and its partners conducted a study focusing on Thai communities in Mai Son district, Son La province in the North West of Vietnam. The study assessed local food biodiversity and identified opportunities for improving diet quality and diversity for women of reproductive age and children ages 12-23 months through system innovation. It also probed links to the status of locally available biodiversity in selected Thai Villages.
The goal of this project was to identify best practices for improving farm and dietary diversity through participatory communities. We studied farming biodiversity, farming practices, dietary diversity, the food market and natural resources, and conducted analyses that will allow us to develop and test interventions that could improve farm and dietary diversity.
