Francis Thompson joined HealthBridge in 2007, after serving as a member of the HealthBridge board from 2002 to 2006. He has worked in tobacco control since 1996, first at Info-tabac in Montréal, then as policy analyst and later director of policy at the Non-Smokers' Rights Association in Ottawa. From 2007-2009, as part of HealthBridge's partnership with the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, Thompson acted as regional advisor to the Union for Latin America, with particular emphasis on Mexico and Brazil. He is Executive Director of Framework Convention Alliance (FCA), a global civil society alliance working to end the tobacco epidemic, including by promoting the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. The FCA Secretariat is hosted by HealthBridge Canada.
Thompson has served on the programme or scientific committees of various tobacco control conferences, including the Canadian national conference (twice), the international francophone conference (twice) and the World Conference on Tobacco or Health (Washington, 2006).
