The Livable Cities team has returned from a successful, enriching experience at the 9th session of the World Urban Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

Livable Cities partners from Vietnam, Brazil, Ghana, Niger, India, Nepal, Uganda and Bangladesh attended the Forum from February 7 - 13, where they shared their expertise on promoting public spaces, connected with officials, and strategized for the future.

Highlights of the Forum included:

  • Sharing concrete examples to a full house of how civil society is leading the way to great public spaces around the world
  • Making clear the link between public health and public spaces at every opportunity
  • Connecting partners with high-level government officials to share their advice and recommendations for public space planning
  • Hearing first-hand from partners the importance of their work to promote public spaces
  • Spending time together to strategize and plan for the years ahead

The Livable Cities team clearly and conscisely highlighted the impact of their work in meetings and presentations. By the end of the Forum it was clear: the way we are building our cities is killing people—and better public spaces lead the way to better cities. Onwards!
