Ms. Sian Fitzergerald, Executive Director of HealthBridge Foundation of Canada and Mr. Trevor Haché, Vice-President of the Healthy Transportation Coalition was pleased to present Ms. Constance Sentongo the 2018 Tim Stone Memorial Award for her work with communities in the slums of Kampala.

Her internship with HealthBridge allowed her to work with Advocates for Public Spaces to improve a public park in the Lukuli slum of Kampala. Ms. Sentongo used her engineering knowledge to transform the park into an area where children could play.

During the summer, she also worked under the Healthy Transportation Coalition in Ottawa, supporting their on-going project of increasing opportunities for vulnerable populations to travel safely and conveniently throughout the city

Ms. Sentongo is planning to pursue her Masters Degree in transportation engineering with a focus on sustainable transportation and she extends her gratitude to HealthBridge Board Member and Associate Professor Mark Zuidgeest at University of Cape Town for informing her about Tim Stone Memorial Fund.

The Tim Stone Memorial Award was established in 2013 with proceeds from the Tim Stone Memorial Fund.

The purpose of the award is to honour the memory and contributions of former HealthBridge Executive Director Tim Stone, by encouraging young people who are exploring a career in international development.
