Impact Story: Saturday night mobile playground

Details

Starting in April, a free mobile playground has been set up for children in the old quarter of Ha Noi on Saturday evenings. HealthBridge Vietnam has been supporting a group of young architects, Think Playgrounds, who created this initiative.

PlayStreet is set up on a street that is pedestrian-only on weekends. It includes equipment made of bamboo and recycled materials, free play space with themes that are changed regularly (such as chalk drawings, racing and cartoons), as well as traditional games like bamboo jacks, and stilt-walking. The mobile playground attracts about 1,000 visitors each evening, including 500 children who come to play. Another 500 tourists and local people sit in tea shops and watch. After this pilot project ends, we plan to hand over the mobile playground to the community to organize and investigate possible places to create a fixed playground in the old quarter.
