Shovan, the media officer for Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust gets a phone call on the weekly holiday. A local playing field, a popular spot for the neighbourhood children to play, is being taken over by developers planning, without permission, to build a shopping mall. Shovan jumps into a rickshaw and, while the wallah pedals him to the place, he calls a few colleagues, including a well-known environmental activist and a few journalists. On his arrival, he instructs the neighbours who are standing around, looking at the sign announcing the new mall, to take over the field. The environmental activist arrives with a megaphone and begins rallying the crowd. People make a few hand-painted signs and hold them up, posing for pictures for the newspaper. Several hours of demonstration and several phone calls later, a government official appears and announces that the playing field will remain as it is: a public space for use by the locals. People cheer, the children stay on to play, and Shovan and his colleagues return to their homes to enjoy the rest of the holiday with their families.
