Our Livable Cities team was in Surabaya, Indonesia recently for the third preparatory meeting for the United Nations' Habitat III Summit on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development.
In Surabaya UN member states discussed how a new model of urban development, the New Urban Agenda (NUA) would be able to integrate all facets of sustainable development to promote equity, welfare and shared prosperity.
The NUA is expected to guide efforts around urbanization of a wide range of actors — nation states, city and regional leaders, international development funders, United Nations programmes and civil society — for the next 20 years.
